In 2023, a carefully planted row of palm trees guided us to a beautiful view of the ocean in Togo. We paused, snapped a photo, and prayed for God to help us get many items in order, like the palms. At that time, GTP had one staff member in the region, few volunteers, and limited materials in French. This report celebrates the progress since then.
The Francophone Africa region includes 20 countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Gabon, Guinea Republic, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, the Republic of the Congo, and Togo.
Stewards
For years, we have prayed for workers, and God has built a skilled team of stewards. GTP now has two staff members in the region: Samuel Mujyanama, GTP Multimedia Specialist (Rwanda), and Romeo Nkongnou, GTP Global Trainer and French Programs Manager (Cameroon). Also, Dr. Comlan Prosper Deh (Togo) serves as a GTP Board Member.
Additionally, GTP now has Country Coordinators in eight nations: Dimanche Ouedraogo (Burkina Faso), Emmanuel Kouassi (Côte d'Ivoire), Bertin Mwanya (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Narindra Andriamana (Madagascar), Samuel Muhire (Rwanda), Jériel Famien (Senegal), Martin Baboka (the Republic of the Congo), and Koffi Nyamadi (Togo).
Supplies
God has supplied tools for empowering these stewards. We now have the GTP Diagnostic Tool and Templates in French. We have trained workers onsite with Stations of Generosity in French. Recently, GTP completed the French translation of Journey of Empowerment for onsite training and added French subtitles to the Palmful of Maize video.
To date, we have trained five course moderators in the region to deliver GTP courses and use these resources: Edmund Gakiza (Burundi), Enock Ndungu (Rwanda), Koffi Nyamadi (Togo), Nyonkuru Paul (Rwanda), and Daniel Kyungu Tchikala (DRC). In the next two years, we hope to make the ECFA Press books available in French: The Choice, The Sower, and The Council.
Seal
In 2023, the African Council for Accreditation and Accountability (AfCAA) reported no members in the region. AfCAA is the peer accountability group serving sub-Saharan Africa. To encourage churches and ministries to apply for the AfCAA seal, GTP provided scholarship funds to cover 50% of the application fee for 12 churches or ministries.
In 2024, Inkuru Nziza Church in Rwanda received accreditation. Praise God! We envision more ministries will pursue the AfCAA seal now that we have more staff, volunteers, and resources to help churches and ministries put their houses in order. When you think of supporting ministries in the region, look for the AfCAA seal.
Supplication
Praise God with us for raising up stewards, providing supplies, and enabling a strong peer accountability group like AfCAA to make an accreditation seal available for churches and ministries. So many regions do not have these critical components lined up! But these workers still have much to do. Pray for continued progress in all these areas.
Ask God to help GTP develop and deploy more volunteers. Pray for the staff and country coordinators to begin replicable onsite training that multiplies stewards in the region. Pray for the translation of the ECFA Press books and other resources. And lift up the churches and ministries of the region. Pray that more will pursue AfCAA accreditation.
